My P90X over 50 transformation continues…

I’ve been a bit remiss about posting… so just to let you know.. the dream continues
I’ve now completed round 2 of P90X and even then I relaxed a bit, let me tell you why…
My metabolism is on fire, I eat healthy but eat  A LOT.  I’m the guy that thought a fat burning metabolism was something you were born with, not something you could train your body to become (I was wrong)
I’m not sure if it’s the Shakeology I start my day with, but I’m kinda guessing that helps a …

Screw Calorie Counting

If I had to constantly refer to a calorie counter to determine what  and how much I could eat, I go berserk..
I just can’t subject myself to that kind of prison.. instead I just do my best to eat sensibly, since I’m the chief cook in the house, I can control what I eat (and everyone else).  Because I can’t cook 6 times a day,  I consume a lot of protein bars, and have Shakeology for breakfast and as a late afternoon snack on “strength training” days..(YOU NEED PROTEIN)  my cooking …

Why is P90X is 90 days?

I’m not a doctor or a certified trainer, but here’s my take on why P90X is a 90 day program (based on my own experience).
My goal when I started was to lose 30 pounds.. I had no real good reason, other than I thought I looked I’d look fairly decent weighing in at 180.
after 30 days I was pretty sure I’d have to revise my goals… I wasn’t disappointed in the program, because I has lost about 7 pounds, my clothes were getting loose, it just wasn’t on track to lose 30 …

Getting into “Skinny” Jeans

I gotta say this up front… guys usually don’t have “skinny” jeans.  We’ll keep sweatshirts, Hawaiian shirts, bomber jackets forever, mostly ’cause they are hard to grow out of (aka: get too fat to fit into).
So what I did was buy what were going to be my “skinny” jeans. so I went out and bought a pair of 30 inch waist Levis.
I had already lost a bunch of weight, but didn’t want to buy some temporary jeans, instead I thought i would walk around in my current, now over-sized jeans, …

My P90x diet.. sort of

In just a couple of days I’ll be getting taking my 60 day pictures, to show my progress (or lack thereof) in the 90 day p90x workout.
I think the pics will show progress, but I wanted to fill you in what’s been going on with my P90X diet
First off I did catch some sort of flu or virus (I’m positive it wasn’t H1N1) that kept me down for 4 days, so I just added 4 days to my time line.. so I guess they will be 64 day pictures
Second.. I have to …

My first 30 days

Yes.. I didn’t start this blog at “Day Zero” as I should have.. but better late than never.
For this post I’m just going to post my 30 day progress… what I was thinking on each workout is kinda murky.. not because of my feeble mind, but some days.. Very pleased… other days an intense chore (yes you do have to work at this)
while you may or may not see my progress in the pictures.. I can see it in the way my cloths fit, the comments I received from family …

30 Years of Fat… Gone in 90 days?

I’d say the last time I really exercised… I mean REALLY put forth an effort, was just before I married in 1980
Oh sure I used to play golf… as one friend said “to keep the rust off” but even that ended, when my back required 2 days of recovery, after a round of golf .
So as time passed an extra pound here, an atrophied muscle there… before I knew it I have a figure that resembles a russet potato, with pipe cleaners appendages…
Not a pretty sight…
It’s not like I didn’t …
